Job Description
Our client is a thriving plant nursery wholesaler in New Zealand, located in the Kihikihi area. They are looking for an experienced Dispatch team leader to join the team.
About the role:
The client is offering a full-time position from Monday to Thursday, 7.30am - 5pm and Friday being a 7.30am - 3pm shift.
- Managing and motivating a team to ensure efficient dispatch operations.
- Working closely with the Sales and Production Managers to meet customer demands and internal freight requirements.
- Assigning tasks and managing team workloads.
- Coordinating with the Palmerston North branch with their freight requirements of the business.
- Making sure the orders are dispatched accurately and on time, including planning truck routes for efficient delivery execution.
- Booking third-party freight and updating the tracking systems for all outgoing freight.
- Preparing packing slips and labels for products.
- Identifying any training and providing support to your team.
- Performing quality checks on products before dispatch, making sure they meet the company standards.
- Building a positive and productive team culture through regular communication, motivation and performance feedback.
- Implementing systems to ensure consistency with the delivery of the products.
- Ensuring all team members participate in regular health & safety meetings and follow the procedures.
- Assist in business optimisation by identifying areas to reduce waste and improve processes.
Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in leading a team.
- Previous experience in logistics, with a solid understanding of dispatch and delivery processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Geographic knowledge of New Zealand.
- Good common sense and judgement.
- Problem solving skills and able to think on your feet.
- Experience in quality checking, ideally with plants or perishable goods.
- Very organized with the ability to delegate tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Positive attitude, strong people management skills and proactive with training and developing staff.
