Te tūranga - The role
The Financial System Statistics team provides end-to-end data services, from assessing emerging data needs to collecting and analysing data and disseminating key metrics and insights. The team works with data ranging from financial reports to sample surveys and detailed unit records, requiring the use of a wide variety of data skills and tools.

The Manager Financial System Statistics is responsible for leading a team to deliver products and services that enable prudential supervision, financial system stability monitoring and economic assessment. This team also publishes high quality official statistics for New Zealand on diverse topics including inflation expectations, insurance, and the cash and payments system.

In this role you will be responsible for analytical and insights excellence and be a strong and visible advocate of informed decision making through data-driven business practices. As a trusted data leader for the Bank, you will lead into uncharted territory, evolving the team to meet new needs.

The manager will also actively contribute to a cohesive and capable management team in the Data, Statistics & Analytics department. As Manager, you will facilitate an environment where innovation thrives and the team is supported to continuously improve data products and services.

Ō pūkenga - About you
To be successful in this role you'll have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification supported by proven relevant work experience
  • Proven experience in leading a team of professionals
  • Proven experience in development and maintenance of end-to-end use of data from collection through to insights and analysis for a wide range of audiences
  • Strong ability in analytical techniques to provide insights and relevant future focused reporting for critical decision making internally and externally
  • Well-developed stakeholder and relationship management skills
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences
  • An understanding of data infrastructure, classifications and statistical time series
  • Monetary policy, financial sector and macro-economic understanding.

The anticipated appointment range for this role is $179,547.84 to $194,510.16 (actual salary will be dependent on your skills and experience).
