Working at the Ministry for Ethnic Communities, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of Ethnic Communities for the benefit of New Zealand.

We have a six-month fixed term or secondment opportunity in the Government Relations and Advisory team for an experienced Principal Advisor.

This is not your typical Principal Advisor role. This role is about influencing system change in impactful areas where there are specific needs or opportunities for Ethnic Communities.

If yes, then we need you.

To be successful in this role you will need experience and skills in:

  • maintaining a strategic overview of government objectives and anticipating the needs of the Minister and Ministry;
  • building and leveraging great networks, and excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills;
  • communicating effectively with a wide range of stakeholders;
  • being agile, innovative, and responsive to changes in priorities and developments in policy advice and service delivery best practices; and
  • conducting fit-for-purpose analysis, synthesising information from various sources, and using expert knowledge and sound judgment to draw conclusions and provide advice.

It would be great if you also had experience of economic development.

If you want to join a diverse, dedicated and friendly team that does incredibly interesting and important work for Ethnic Communities - then get in touch.
