Join us to take the region's water supply efforts to another level and support future generations. We need a Civil Infrastructure Programme Director to lead the programme that will result in the construction of the Pākuratahi Lakes.

The opportunity

Wellington Water are currently looking for a Senior Leader, Infrastructure Director or Civil Programme Executive that has the proven ability to develop a programme that will result in the construction of a significant and complex asset. The construction of the Pākuratahi Lakes is a key component of our strategy for achieving a sustainable balance between the supply and demand for drinking water for the Wellington metropolitan area.

As the Programme Director for the development of Pākuratahi Lakes, you will be responsible for establishing a team of high-performance professionals that are committed to the strategic outcome for the region, and leading that team across all aspects of, project and workstream planning, consenting, costing and concept design. You will partner with experts within New Zealand and further abroad to identify best solutions and, develop commercial relationships. Importantly, you will need to ensure strong governance and reporting is in place, working collaboratively with our owner councils and community members.

About you

This work programme is essential for our client councils to make long-term infrastructure decisions.

To be successful you will have previously seen a large scale long-term civil project for a utility, central or local government, through from budget and business case proposal to construction, and have the following:

  • Advanced stakeholder engagement skills, including a history of lobbying and building detailed business cases for governance committees and councils to achieve desired funding
  • Fostered relationships and worked collaboratively with Iwi to apply te ao Māori and holistic approaches to large scale programmes
  • Experience developing and implementing frameworks and programme models
  • Previous experience establishing and directing work programmes with multiple civil workstreams
  • Commercial Procurement and Civil relationship management experience
  • Leadership experience including developing team structure, culture and scope/size positional requirements
  • A relevant Civil/Engineering Degree and qualifications within Project Management disciplines
