About us
The purpose of the Royal Commission of Inquiry (COVID-19 Lessons) is to strengthen New Zealand's preparedness for, and response to, any future pandemic by identifying the lessons learned from New Zealand's response to COVID-19. The Government has established Phase Two of the Inquiry to provide further recommendations on actions that will strengthen New Zealand's pandemic preparedness.
The Department of Internal Affairs provides administrative assistance, where needed, to the Inquiry.
About the opportunity
As a Senior Advisor you will:
- Provide key input in the provision of thought leadership, and strategic advice to support Commissioners in delivering on the terms of reference of the Royal Commission
- Contribute to the gathering, review and analysis of reports, investigative outputs, data, research and other material relevant to the terms of reference
- Collaborate with others and contribute to the development and delivery of the work programme.
About you
To be successful in this role you will need:
- Experience in providing high-quality analysis and advice and effectively applying the outcomes of research and evaluation
- Proven ability to identify and effectively mitigate risks and consistently use sound judgement on controversial or critical issues using the best evidence available
- Knowledge of government and policy processes
- Excellent analytical skills and innovative thinking
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent relationship skills and the ability to work at all levels of organisations and communities
- A tertiary qualification - ideally in a relevant field (e.g. public policy, economics, epidemiology, education, health and disability, institutional and legal arrangements and practice) or equivalent knowledge, skill and experience is essential.
