Mō te tūnga | About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Physiotherapist to lead our Cardiorespiratory and Surgical Physiotherapy Team on the Christchurch Hospital combined campus site.

As an Allied Health Team Coordinator you will be responsible for co-ordinating and providing operational management and leadership for a team working with patients across Intensive Care, General Surgery, Medical Respiratory, Cardiology (inpatients and outpatients), Respiratory Outpatients, Cardiothoracics, Vascular and the Surgical Progressive Care Unit. This will include facilitating clinical supervision, teaching, training, and professional development for your team.

This is your chance to develop and use leadership skills in a health system undergoing rapid transformation.  Your skills will be ensuring the ongoing ability of these services to provide optimal care in a fast paced, tertiary care environment. 

Along with the Clinical Manager (Physiotherapy) you will be part of the leadership team supporting, guiding, and directing the Physiotherapy Service on the Christchurch Hospital Campus. As an Allied Health Team Coordinator you will carry a clinical caseload across the inpatient wards.  You will have excellent communication skills and you will have worked with a wide number of people from different backgrounds. 

You will enjoy the opportunity to be involved with the development and maintenance of policies and procedures and take the chance to contribute at a multidisciplinary level on quality and governance committees.

Ko wai koe | About You

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • The daily coordination and operational management of both rotational, non-rotational staff and students;
  • Ensuring that professional development and supervisory needs of the team are met;
  • Supporting and directing the Physiotherapy Service on Christchurch Hospital Campus alongside the Clinical Manager and the leadership team;
  • Undertaking expert assessments, completing appropriate interventions, and providing advice or referring to other services.

 Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and Experience

  • a minimum of 5 years clinical experience working in your area of specialty
  • Broad clinical experience working in a hospital setting, ideally including respiratory skills (desirable);
  • An ability to lead and contribute to interdisciplinary service development
  • Knowledge of quality improvement principles and processes
  • An ability to work unsupervised
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and written
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities (desirable)
