Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role:

We have an opening for an intermediate to experienced Test Automation Engineer (Matihiko Matua/Digital Specialist – Testing) to join our Survey and Title Enhancement Programme (STEP) in mid to late January 2025.

As a Test Automation Engineer, you will use testing practices to support the development, implementation, deployment of range of Products and Services within one of the Survey Squads.

As a cross-functional squad member, you'll collectively deliver your products and be involved in all aspects of the design, creation, testing and maintenance. Our squads are agile, impactful and collaborate effectively and efficiently, thanks to our strong focus on team culture, professional development, and continuous improvement.

In addition to the above, you will have the ability to contribute to technical discussions and with your testing and coding skills. You will commit to promoting our culture of collaboration with both your squad members, your work leads, architects, and our key stakeholders and will be activity involved in Programme Increment (PI) planning and during the creation of iteration plans, team PI objectives, release, release planning and product backlog.

This is a perfect role for a Developer with specific interest in testing frameworks, quality assurance and someone who is looking to develop expertise in Test Automation.

He pūkenga tou | Skills & Experience:

If the above role sounds appealing and you feel you have knowledge of a range of software development skills including the following:

  • Knowledge of modern testing practices and test automation
  • Experience testing web applications and APIs
  • Familiarity in JavaScript and Typescript in NodeJS environment
  • Familiarity with Kotlin or Java and Spring Boot or similar
  • Source control using git and GitHub

With some of the following skills being advantageous:

  • Playwright to create E2E testing
  • Storybook testing
  • Experience in common tool chain elements such GitHub Actions
  • Experience using AWS CDK or CloudFormation is desirable
  • Containerisation using Docker
  • Knowledge of spatial concepts and systems would be advantageous e.g. GeoServer
  • Familiarity with Scaled Agile Framework
