Ara Poutama Aotearoa, Department of Corrections is one of New Zealand's largest government departments. At its heart, the department is focused on the pursuit of oranga - the wellbeing of people. The New Zealand Parole Board (“the Board”) is an independent statutory body that makes public safety decisions about the managed release of people in prison subject to sentences of more than two years.

The Board also has many other functions. These include considering compassionate release applications, and imposing conditions for people subject to extended supervision orders.  The Board is chaired by Sir Ron Young and comprises of about 40 members – a quarter of which are current or former judges who act as panel convenors, and the rest are community members. Ara Poutama Aotearoa provides operational and administrative services to support the Board in its crucial role.

 

Ngā kawenga | About the role

This is not your typical ‘admin' role – our Administrators have a significant responsibility and play a critical part in providing coordination and support services to enable the Board to carry out its statutory responsibilities. 

We are looking for an experienced Administrator to join our New Zealand Parole Board (NZPB) Support Services team based in Wellington. In this role you will provide administration support to the Operations team and wider NZPB Leadership team.

You will be responsible for the management of administrative policies, systems and processes, and will enjoy juggling a variety of tasks including, but not limited to; managing incoming telephone and email enquiries from a range of stakeholders, supporting victim communication and engagement, processing invoices, arranging travel bookings, maintaining an up-to-date filing system and files including storing and retrieving files from archives, and a variety of other general administration tasks.

  • Competent at using all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with administrative processes, technology and systems including travel booking and invoicing systems.
  • Good interpersonal skills, well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisation, planning and time management, excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to show empathy and sensitivity towards Māori, Pasifika, and other cultures.

Utu ā-tau | Salary

The midpoint of the salary range is $60,166 and the full range (85%-120%) is $54,080 - $72,200. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
