Salary:  As per PSA MECA, 5.2.5 Designated A ($111,240 - $117,420)

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced pharmacist to join our team as an Advanced Pharmacist - Cancer Services. This is a new position and is a permanent, part-time role, 20 hours per week.

Wellington Regional Hospital provides specialist services to patients with cancer and haematological conditions, delivered over a wide range of care settings across the subregion (Wellington, Hutt Valley & Wairarapa). This position will provide a clinical pharmacy service to patients in Cancer Services. This will include those receiving treatment in the outpatient setting, but may also include inpatients. There may also be a requirement to help support our Aseptic Production Unit.

This role is fully supported by the haematology and oncology service. It is preferable that applicants possess oncology/haematology clinical pharmacy experience, knowledge and skill but we may be prepared to undertake the training of a suitable candidate. Knowledge of chemotherapy production would also be preferred.

The pharmacy team is well respected by clinicians, nursing staff, and senior management across the organisation, and is constantly looking at ways to improve the service and care it delivers.  We provide a comprehensive pharmacy service throughout to the Capital Coast and Hutt Valley District, which includes a clinical service, dispensary & logistics service, and a quality & risk service. There is also an aseptic production service at Capital & Coast Hospitals (Wellington & Kenepuru). Through these services, we aim to improve the quality and effectiveness of prescribing, supply and distribution of medicines throughout the Capital Coast and Hutt Valley District.  Our teams value professional growth, and emphasizes clinical development and medicines optimization for our patients.

Moū - About you

We want to hear from you if you are an experienced hospital pharmacist wanting to take the next step in your hospital career, particularly if you have previous experience in the oncology or haematology setting. You will be self-motivated with a broad clinical experience, be able to work autonomously and innovatively, as well as having the ability to form good working relationships with the multidisciplinary team. You will need to be registered as a pharmacist in NZ with a valid APC, or eligible to register.
