  • Play an important role in improving the Justice experience.
  • Permanent, full-time position.
  • Based in Wellington at National Office with flexible/remote ways of working.
  • National travel required from time to time, with the ability to work from other sites as and when required.

An opportunity has come about to join a cross-sector team that delivers operational improvements across the criminal justice system in partnership with government agencies and various stakeholders, supporting the Government's commitment to reform the criminal justice system and working towards the strategic priorities of the Justice Sector.

The purpose of the team is to be responsive and proactive in avoiding sentencing delays in Remand and giving greater access to key information.  To achieve this, the team will act as a centralised point of contact for internal and external staff on sentencing and other related matters. 

Mō te tūnga | About the role

You will liaise with defendants/offenders, defence counsel, the Judiciary, Ministry of Justice, Ara Poutama Aotearoa, Police and external agencies to obtain and receive information. You will also support operational change to process and practice and provide advice to a range of staff across the sector. This role serves as a critical link between Operations Delivery and other parts of the Justice sector.

In this position you will play an important role in reducing delays and supporting those involved in the court process.

The successful applicant will require the ability to travel nationally from time to time, and also work from other sites as and when required.  The role is based at National Office in Wellington, however flexible/remote ways of working will be considered for the right candidate.

  • Some experience or knowledge of Justice sector work environment and legislative frameworks
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an operational role
  • Ability to present complex information to others in a format appropriate to the audience and medium
  • Demonstrated ability to work collegially with others to achieve required outcomes
  • Sound organisational skills and abilities
  • Ability to present and manipulate data for reporting
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Confidence to speak to or with a wide variety of individuals and teams
  • Demonstrated experience providing timely and accurate advice and guidance
  • Demonstrated experience in roles working within/across multiple sector agencies
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency working with IOMS, Cobra and other applications/software would be desirable

Utu ā-tau | Salary

The midpoint of the salary range is $87,132 and the full range (85%-120%) is $74,063 - $104,559.  Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
