At Manatū Hauora – Ministry of Health we are the kaitiaki of the health system, providing leadership and driving strategy and performance. We regulate the health sector and are the primary source of advice on health matters.
The Ethics team is part of the Regulation and Monitoring Directorate and provides advice on ethics in relation to policy and legislative changes. The team also supports seven Ministerial committees to provide independent expert advice and ethical review of assisted reproductive technology and health and disability research.
Ko ake mahi - What you'll do
You will provide high quality support to the Health and Disability Ethics Committees (HDECs)and the Ethics Committee on Assisted Reproduction (ECART). The Advisor works as part of the Ethics team to provide high quality advice and secretariat support to the Ethics Committees and working group as they carry out their functions.
You will represent the Ministry at relevant committee and stakeholder meetings, , and contribute to the continuous improvement of processes within the team. You will be a team player and ensure all work aligns with equity priorities and Treaty of Waitangi obligations.
Ko pūkenga - What you'll bring
- Knowledge and experience in health and disability research ethics, or a similar regulatory role
- Tertiary qualification in a health or relevant field and/or equivalent experience
- Knowledge and experience servicing Committees (agenda, minute taking, meeting packs etc.) or similar at an intermediate level or above
- Excellent prioritisation skills, ability to use initiative, work under pressure and meet deadlines in an ambiguous and dynamic environment.
- Excellent relationship management skills
