At Manatū Hauora – Ministry of Health we are the kaitiaki of the health system, providing leadership and driving strategy and performance. We regulate the health sector and are the primary source of advice on health matters.
Our Regulatory Assurance team is responsible forthe regulation and administration of the Contraception, Sterilisation and Abortion Act 1977, the End of Life Choice Act 2019 and the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003. The team also provides secretariat support for statutory committees, clinical panels and assists with the work programme of the Office of the Registrar (assisted dying). Advisors work across all of the teams work programme, ensuring exposure to different legislation and regulatory challanges.
Ko ake mahi - What you'll do
The Advisor will be responsible for supporting the Regulatory Assurance team, statutory committees and clinical panels in providing high quality regulatory advice across the portfolios of assisted dying services, abortion/sterilisation services, and the regulation of health professionals.
Ko pūkenga - What you'll bring
- At least 12 months previous experience working at an Advisor level and/or Tertiary qualification in a relevant field
- Proven organisational skills with the ability to be flexible, think ahead, use initiative, establish priorities, and meet deadlines whilst preserving high levels of accuracy and confidentiality
- Previous experience in applying critical thinking and using sound judgement to develop options and provide advice
- Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to tailor complex and sensitive messages to a range of audiences
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to foster good stakeholder relationships.
- Demonstrated previous experience in working within regulatory frameworks or legislation
