Te Tūranga | The Role

If you are passionate about providing trust in our capital markets, this job is unlike any other job.  Working with and alongside the Head of Audit and Financial Reporting, you will oversee New Zealand's registered audit firms and conduct audit quality reviews to ensure firms are meeting international audit standards. 

It's fair to say that this isn't your average audit role. Instead, it's an exciting opportunity for the right person where you'll form strong working relationships with top-tier stakeholders in registered audit firms and engage with a range of stakeholders on our key responsibilities. You'll assess auditor's compliance with auditing standards, make recommendations to address any shortcomings and provide input into policies and procedures for best practice. You'll also engage with MBIE on legislative settings of the wider audit oversight regime.

If you're a driven, talented, passionate auditor looking for a role with autonomy, where you're trusted to manage your own time and are supported by senior audit professionals to help you develop professionally, this is the perfect role for you. You'll be joining a friendly and respected team who are passionate about creating positive change on professional auditing standards.

You'll preferably be a CA or CPA with:

  • Significant audit experience (PQE 10+ years)
  • Manager/senior manager experience in one of the major audit firms, Audit NZ or other relevant regulatory audit experience
  • Have excellent technical skills in auditing and financial reporting standards
  • Confidence and ability to engage with and appropriately challenge senior partners of all registered audit firms
  • Proven report writing skills
  • Proven technical accounting skills
  • A willingness to learn and be agile in your approach
