RobLawMax have partenered with one of Christchurch's leading Marine and Industrial Engineering Specialists. Lyttelton Engineering has been an integral part of the Port of Lyttelton since 1953, specializing in ship repair, boiler manufacture and repair, steel fabrication and much more.
An opportunity has come up to join an expanding team and we are looking for up to four Boilermakers / Fabricators / Welders to join this reputable Marine and Industrial Engineering company, based at the Lyttelton dockside workshops. Occasional short term project deployment throughout New Zealand is a part of these roles, for which appropriate travel expenses and allowances are provided.
The role will include the following responsibilities:
- Interpreting workshop drawings and accurately marking out.
- Forming steel components using brake press and/or rolling machines.
- Assembling steel fabrications and setting out pressure piping spools.
- Welding steel fabrications, boilers, pressure vessels and piping to meet the appropriate standard [e.g. ASME IX, AS/NZS3992, AS 1228, AS/NZS 1554.1] acceptance criteria using FCAW, MMAW, GTAW or SMAW processes.
- Repair work to customers plant or ships, either in the workshop, on site, in dry dock or on board ship.
This role would ideally suit someone with at least 3 years experience in heavy fabrication and welding, including ship repair and boiler / pressure vessel work. A trade qualification or indentureship and current welding qualifications are beneficial.
We are seeking people who:
- Hold a trade qualification or have completed an indentureship/time-served training in heavy fabrication
- Have current plate and pipe welding qualifications (preferred but not mandatory)
- Enjoy working as part of a team and can also work independently
- Pass a pre-employment drug screen
