Hours - Casual (for more information see below details)
Location - Kurawaka Waipapa - Central City & Oromairaki - Rolleston
Salary - Based on the NZNO Nursing and Midwifery collective agreement
- Be part of a dynamic team working in 2 new community birthing units
- Casual position - must be available to work all shifts
- Some shifts may be planned to cover annual leave, but must also be available for short notice sickness cover
- Shifts are 8 hours including morning, later morning, afternoon and night shifts
Mō te tūnga | About the role
Kurawaka Waipapa opened earlier this year and is founded on a Te Ao Māori model of care. Oromairaki is also a contemporary new birthing unit within the Selwyn Health Hub (Toka Hapāi) located in Rolleston.
Hospital Aides support the midwives - role and are responsible for the domestic requirements of the unit. These include for example, cleaning and stocking rooms; ordering and stocking linen; orientating women to the unit and supporting partner and whanau visiting; answering the phone.

This role requires the following:
- Previous Hospital Aide experience and a First Aide Certificate an advantage
- A passion for primary birthing and breastfeeding
- A commitment to equity and our responsibilities under Te Tiriti o Waitangi within maternity services
- The ability to be adaptable, flexible and solution focused
