About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Medical Secretary to join our dedicated team at the Central Hawkes Bay Health Centre. In this permanent part-time role, you will work 40 hours per fortnight, Monday to Friday, supporting the Outpatient Department (OPD) and Mental Health services. As the Medical Secretary, your primary responsibility will be to accurately transcribe medical notes for both OPD and Mental Health, ensuring timely and precise documentation for healthcare providers. Additionally, you will manage a variety of administrative tasks, including scheduling appointments, maintaining patient records, and coordinating communication between departments. Your role will be crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of daily administrative tasks, allowing our clinical team to focus on patient care.

You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, mental health professionals, and administrators, providing essential support to ensure that patient records and administrative processes are handled efficiently. About you
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Extensive experience in transcription, particularly of medical notes, with a strong understanding of medical terminology (experience in transcribing OPD and Mental Health notes is highly advantageous)
- Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in documentation, ensuring all medical records are completed correctly and promptly
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks efficiently in a busy healthcare setting
- Proficiency in using office software, including word processing and patient management systems
- The ability to work independently, managing your own workload while also being part of a broader team
- Excellent communication skills, enabling you to liaise effectively with clinical staff, patients, and other departments
- Discretion and confidentiality, especially when handling sensitive patient information
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting or medical administration role is preferred
This role is based at the DHB Health Centre on Wednesday afternoons, all day Thursday and Friday.
