Are you a dynamic and well-connected professional with strong relationships in the New Zealand retail market? We are working with one of Australia’s leading distributors of consumer electronics, white & brown goods and appliances as they launch an established Japanese brand into the New Zealand market. This is a unique opportunity for someone who has previously worked as a Senior Buyer, Category Manager, or Merchandise Manager and is looking to leverage their expertise and network to drive growth. About the Role:
As the Channel Manager, you will be responsible for introducing a new range of consumer electronics to leading retailers across New Zealand. You’ll take ownership of developing and executing the go-to-market strategy, ensuring the brand secures strong listings, prime shelf space, and successful sales across multiple retail channels. This role requires someone who is highly skilled in negotiation and relationship management, with the ability to influence key stakeholders at major retailers.Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a channel strategy to introduce and grow the brand within major retailers.
  • Leverage existing relationships with retail buyers to secure listings, negotiate favourable terms, and maximise product visibility.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for key retail partners, managing accounts and ensuring ongoing sales performance.
  • Collaborate with marketing, product, and supply chain teams to align distribution and promotional efforts with brand goals.
  • Analyse sales data and market trends to optimise channel performance and ensure competitive market positioning.
  • Lead high-level negotiations on product placement, pricing, and promotional strategies.
  • Provide regular updates and reports on channel activities and performance to senior management.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Experience: Experience in channel management, sales, or business development within the consumer electronics or FMCG industries.
  • Retail Expertise: Prior experience as a Senior Buyer, Category Manager, or Merchandise Manager at a major retailer is highly desirable.
  • Relationships: Strong, existing relationships with New Zealand’s top retailers (e.g., Noel Leeming, JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, The Warehouse, PB Tech).
  • Sales Skills: Proven track record in driving sales growth through effective channel strategies and retail partnerships.
  • Negotiation & Influence: Expertise in negotiating with senior retail decision-makers, with the ability to secure favourable outcomes.
  • Analytical: Strong ability to analyse sales data and market trends to make data-driven decisions.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders.
