Chief Information Officer

The Office of the Controller and Auditor-General (OAG) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Information Officer (CIO) to join our team.

The Office of the Auditor-General | Te Mana Arotake(the Office) is focused on significantly enhancing its influence and impact on the public sector to deliver better results for Aotearoa New Zealand. The Office is dedicated to making a difference to the lives of New Zealanders, and we want our work to have greater impact in the future.

We're looking for a Chief Information Officer who is passionate about making a difference  to lead the Information Services Group (ISG). The successful person will report to the Assistant Auditor-General, Corporate Services and will provide strategic leadership to the ISG, in order to deliver the information systems and services the Office needs, while ensuring the Office achieves the benefits of investments in technology and information systems, with a function that can support that investment

A capable influencer and strong people leader, you will be valued as a trusted advisor to the senior leadership team. Your industry knowledge, in both technology and knowledge management, will support you in your ability to develop robust vision, strategy, and pathways for delivery. Recognised for your communication skills you will build and maintain organisational momentum in pursuit of delivery of business requirements. Comfortable with change and experienced in vendor negotiation and management you will also be practiced in compliance, budgeting and business case and programme management.

You'll need to have:

  • significant relevant experience in managing an ICT function;
  • significant experience working in a senior people leadership position;
  • demonstrated understanding and ability to apply emerging technologies to improve business outcomes;
  • demonstrated ability to prepare information management strategies and associated business plans;
  • proven experience in vendor negotiation and management; and
  • a relevant tertiary qualification.

The expected salary is between $190,000 and $210,000 per annum.
