Job Description

This leading New Zealand civil contractor is renowned for their expertise and excellence in delivering complex heavy civil projects. They are seeking a seasoned Heavy Civil Project Manager to lead our dynamic team in managing and delivering a variety of challenging projects in and around the Christchurch region. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience with a civil contractor, focusing on bridges, dams, water treatment plants, and other concrete-based heavy civil projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of heavy civil projects from inception to completion
  • Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and resources effectively
  • Oversee subcontractors and ensure compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project delivery efficiency and effectiveness
  • Foster strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and project team members to ensure successful project outcomes
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and support to project teams to optimize performance and achieve project goals

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience with a civil contractor, focusing on bridges, dams, water treatment plants, and other concrete-based heavy civil projects
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex projects within budget and schedule constraints
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies, contract administration, and construction processes
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders
  • Proficiency in project management software and MS Office suite
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent is preferred
