About the role:
As a high-pressure water blaster operator, you will use a water cutter to remove excess bitumen from the road surface, helping to restore the polished aggregates and chips in the pavement. This position requires the operation of vehicles up to Class 4, performing general maintenance on plant equipment, and carrying out general labour duties within the department. Although this role is based out of the Christchurch yard, you will need to be flexible as you will be predominantly working out of town across the South Island and occasionally into the lower North Island. This position is ideal for someone without significant responsibilities or commitments in town. All accommodation and meals will be provided while you are working away from home, allowing you to travel around the country as part of your job. While most work is performed during the daytime, there may be instances where shift work is required.
What’s required:
- High level of physical fitness
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Experienced operating a variety of machinery and vehicles
- Full Class 4 licence (WTR is an advantage)
- Flexible in working hours and days or work
- Great resilience, strong work ethic, and a positive attitude
