  • Full-Time, Permanent Monday to Friday

About the Role

Ngā Harakeke mai Rongokako – Child & Adolescent Family Services is currently seeking a dedicated mental health registered nurse with both experience and a passion for assisting tamariki and rangatahi facing mental health and addiction challenges.

As Clinical Nurse Specialist you will provide specialist nursing care, expertise and leadership in CAFS. A key focus of the role will be ensuring the ongoing quality of service delivery within the team and providing clinical guidance and support in developing and managing specialised portfolios for tamariki/rangatahi (i.e. early intervention psychosis)

The successful candidate must have a good working knowledge of the Mental Health and Addictions sector, and the broader services and communities that interface with the team. It is preferred that the successful candidate has strong assessment, formulation and therapy skills and be able to work efficiently independently and collaboratively with other clinicians in our skilled multi-disciplinary team.

 

About the Team/Service/ Location

Nga Harakeke Mai Rongokako- Child, Adolescent and Family Service (CAFS) provides assessment and treatment services for tamariki, rangitahi and their whanau , who have severe mental health and addiction issues. Through a multidisciplinary approach the service is committed to finding creative ways of providing timely, locally delivered, high quality and effective interventions that maximise mental health and maintain tamariki and rangitahi within their home and educational environment.

 

About you

With at least five years of experience in mental health and addiction nursing you will have a proven ability to function in a nursing leadership role and proven ability to work collaboratively across the health system. We welcome applications from experienced nurses who can demonstrate a commitment to working with tamariki, rangatahi and their whanau. It is essential to have an ability to connect and build trusting relationships with a wide range of people from the community.

You will also need the following key attributes and skills:

  • Applicants must have registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand
  • Hold a current full clean NZ drivers’ licence
  • Be able to meet requirements for the children’s worker safety checks
  • Evidence of completion of a postgraduate qualification (preferably a PG Diploma) and working towards a Master’s degree in Nursing are an essential requirement of the position
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
  • Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
