The Pae Ora Team is responsible for Ara Poutama Aotearoa's overall focus on oranga, inclusive of general health, mental health, addictions, and disability. Our priority is to provide services that support the advancement of health equity for Māori. We do this through our strategies, policies and practices. Within prisons we have a multi-disciplinary approach to service provision to ensure we target and meet the needs of the people in our care.
Ngā kawenga | About the role
The Clinical Quality Assurance Advisors (CQAA) role is to provide support to the National Manager's for Nursing and Medical Services and the Chief Nurse/Director Physical Health in the delivery of integrated, culturally informed health services across our organisation.
The CQAA will work regionally (with frequent travel required) and collaborate nationally with other CQAAs as part of the Pae Ora group to implement a national quality framework which is aligned with Hōkai Rangi and contributes to improved health outcomes for people we manage.
This role has a key focus on the development, implementation, monitoring and auditing of clinical operational systems, clinical and quality performance, and clinical risk management, and requires proven analytical and problem-solving skills, evidence-based practice and expert quality assurance/improvement knowledge, skills and experience to ensure Pae Ora demonstrates a culture of continuous quality improvement, which is humanising and healing, and reflects the values of Corrections.

To be considered for this role we are eager to hear from registered nurses who can demonstrate the following:
- A Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practising Certificate.
- Clinical background in nursing, primary health desirable but not essential.
- Completed or commitment to post graduate education within quality/health management.
- Leadership capability with relevant NZ health sector experience.
- Experience and knowledge of Māori health and equitable health outcomes.
- Experience with service development including driving quality improvement and assurance processes.
- Highly effective stakeholder engagement, relationship management and influencing skills – developed across the wider health care sector.
- Advanced communication skills with proven ability to communicate complex concepts to a range of stakeholders.
- Strong cultural competence and a commitment to our practice values of Rangatira, Wairua, Whānau, Kaitiaki and Manaaki.
Utu ā-tau | Salary
The full salary range is $101.162 - $142,816. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
