Te Haeata/The Opportunity
The Commercial Specialist role reports to the Manager – Commercial Management and is part of the newly established Commercial Management team within the Commercial Services unit.
This role will:
- Help our Stakeholders: Find the contract information our stakeholders need.
- Be a Compliance Champion: Ensure our contracts and supplier databases are up-to-date and fully compliant with internal policies and procedures.
- Drive Data Integrity: Safeguard the integrity of contract records, enabling accurate and timely analysis and sharing of supplier and contract information.
- Support Quality Assurance: Conduct quality assurance activities to ensure our contract and commercial management processes are top-notch.

To be successful in this role you will:
- Have a procurement, commercial or legal background and/or qualifications.
- Have a strong customer focus and willingness to look for solutions to problems or issues on behalf of stakeholders.
- Be able to demonstrate experience in identifying commercial or contract risks, as well as developing mitigations and/or resolving risks in conjunction with stakeholders.
- Have an eye for detail, as well as analytical and numerical skills to enable you to analyse data and spend figures.
- Be committed to the principles of te Tiriti o Waitangi.

The Commercial Services unit sits within the Corporate Services group. It provides advice and manages efficient, value for money procurement practices for the Ministry, including advising and developing the Ministry's procurement strategy and policies in line with the Government Procurement Rules.
The Commercial Management team manages most of the Ministry's contracts, including all Information Technology contracts. Our team ensures that contracts are effectively negotiated, executed, and monitored to meet the Ministry's goals. We ensure the Ministry maintains compliance with legal and policy requirements while optimising supplier relationships for cost efficiency and performance.

Utu ā-tau/Salary
The appointing salary for this role will be between $65,066 to $83,567 based on skills and experience.
