Te Haeata/The Opportunity

The Ministry of Justice is seeking a permanent Communications  Advisor -Te Tari Whakatau  to help deliver end-to-end communication services and products.  The Communications Advisor Te Tari Whakatau will support The Office of Treaty Settlements and Takutai Moana – Te Tari Whakatau. This arrangement is part of the Shared Services Agreement with the Ministry of Justice.

You will work collaboratively across Te Tari Whakatau and the Ministry of Justice to provide communications and engagement expertise. You'll build positive working relationships, offer great customer service and provide strategic communications advice as required. 

 

Reporting to the Lead Communications Advisor Te Tari Whakatau, in this role, you will:

  • develop and execute communication plans that align with the strategic direction of Te Tari Whakatau
  • write and edit content for online channels, social media, speeches, presentations, and official documents
  • manage events and respond to media inquiries
  • foster strong working relationships within Te Tari Whakatau, the Ministry of Justice, and external stakeholders
  • support continuous improvement in communication processes and service delivery.

 

Ō pūkenga/Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • 2+ years' experience in a communications role
  • strong writing, editing, and digital communications skills
  • ability to simplify complex information and tailor messages for different audiences
  • great attention to detail and be a proactive, solutions-focused team player
  • skilled at managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • understanding of te ao Māori and tikanga Māori (basic te reo Māori is a plus!).

Utu ā-tau/Salary

The appointing salary for this role will be between $72,634 and $100,846 based on skills and experience.
