Location: Kapiti Health Centre, Paraparaumu

Service:    Kapiti Community Mental Health Team

Contract:  Fixed-term, full time (to July 2025)

Salary:  $81,683 - $106,739 (pro-rated)

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

This is a fixed-term role covering a secondment, and the perfect opportunity for someone who has wondered about what being a Community Mental Health Nurse entails and wants to give it a try. The Community Mental Health Nurse will have a caseload of clients which they manage autonomously but with the support of the MDT. You will be responsible for the co-ordination of their care, monitoring of mental state and helping them with their recovery journey alongside the whanau.

You will be knowledgeable about the MHA and develop a relationship with MGO - s in the Kapiti area. 

Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team

We are an experienced mental health team situated on the Kapiti Coast. We consist of Psychiatrist's, Psychologist's, Social Worker's, Registered Mental Health Nurses and Admin staff. 

We are a team who likes to provide expert care and treatment to our clients and have an excellent working relationship with the local NGO - s and community services. 

We are situated alongside the CAMHS team and based in the health centre. We have free parking and public transport close by. The weather is warmer and close to the beaches at the end of the day. We like to celebrate each other - s successes.

Moū - About you

You must have the ability to work autonomously and manage your own caseload with the MDT available for support. Recent experience in case management would be a benefit but not essential, as well as a willingness to grow and develop in this role. On top of this we also need:

  • An experienced registered mental health professional (allied health or nursing) with recent experience in mental health. 
  • An up to date annual practicing certificate
  • Experience in mental health triage and risk assessment
  • A good sense of humour
