Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role


We are welcoming applications from competent and professional allied health practitioners who will be providing caring, and best practice services to our patients that puts them at the centre of everything we do. 


This is a temporary position for up to one (1) year, with potential to renew subject to a successful pilot. 


The Complex Surgical Coordinator role aims to improve the coordination and management of patients pre-operatively in order to gain benefits in the pre, peri and post-operative phases of the patient’s surgical journey.


General

•       Oversee management of complex patients through their surgical pathway, from the point of being waitlisted for surgery to being discharged from the hospital.

Pre-Admission

•       Ensure that patients with complex health or social needs have care plans in place, and achieve their “prehabilitation” goals in order to be as optimised as possible for their elective surgery journey.

Wards

•       Continue to actively manage patients with complex health or social needs through their ward stay, with a view to facilitating timely discharge and reducing average length of stay. Reflect learnings back into the pre-admission phase for future patients, as part of a continuous improvement cycle.


Moū - About you


Are you a qualified allied health professional who can practise in New Zealand and who would embrace an exciting opportunity in a beautiful province with fantastic work life balance?

Ideally the candidate will have:

  • 3 or more years of Post Graduate Allied experience
  • Leadership experience
  • Excellent patient assessment skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A passion for improving models of care and the patient experience
