Job Description

We are partnered with an excellent budding T3 construction company in Taupo, who are seeking a Construction Manager/2IC to come in and deliver projects on time and on budget.

About the role:

The site team currently consists of three personnel - an Estimator, a Commercial Manager, and an Administrator - so you’ll be joining a close-knit, friendly team of professionals working across MOE projects, private builds (high end, complex residential projects), as well as a mixture of fitout and new build projects.

We’re after someone with a strong work ethic, a history of delivering multiple projects at once, and the sort of person who doesn’t mind getting stuck in. With a strong pipeline of work ($10M due to be awarded this year) you’ll be hitting the ground running, with all the support you’ll need to succeed. You will be responsible for full cost management including budgeting, cost control and forecasting. You will be able to manage stakeholder relationships fluidly and with skill, juggling many things at once while retaining a cool, calm and collected demeanour.

We’re seeking someone with D&C experience, but if you’re coming from a build only background please don’t be shy in reaching out. Your main responsibility will be delivering projects on time and on budget, so if you have demonstrated ability in executing projects ahead of schedule and within the budget we’d love to hear from you.

This role is based in Taupo - so the right person will either be local already, or be willing to move to Taupo after successfully obtaining the role. This is a strict requirement, and we cannot look at those unable to make the jump to Taupo.

About you:

  • Bachelor Degree in Project or Construction Management OR coming up from the tools with proven experience with reputable contractors
  • 7+ years experience in Project Management
  • Demonstrated ability in the delivery of successful projects, on time and on budget
  • Excellent presentation, encompassing oral and written ability
  • Worked on New Zealand projects with a portfolio that reflects your skillset
  • Natural leader with superb time management and organisational skills
  • Understand the importance of OH&S and adhere to strict safety on site
  • Able to communicate with key stakeholders and hold the attention of a room
  •

What you will get:

  • Generous remuneration, up to $180k and beyond for the right person
  • Permanent, full-time position with stability and a stack of projects - this is NOT a contract or short-term employment, but an on-going career with our clients
  • Work alongside a builder on the cusp of a boom
  • Ford Ranger company vehicle + fuel card
  • Tools of the trade - phone & laptop
  • Supportive, growing team of seasoned professionals
  • Ability to start immediately, though notice is of course fine too

At Extrastaff, safety is paramount and as such the right candidate will have a strong commitment to OH&S, with the ability to work as part of a team to ensure everyone goes home safely.

As an equal opportunity employer, those from diverse or underrepresented backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Please note, only those candidates who are shortlisted for the role will be contacted given the number of applications we receive.

If this sounds like you, please send your resume to jake.mcfadyen@extrastaff.co.nz or apply to this advert with your updated CV.
