Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Consultant Breast Radiologist to join our Regional Breast Screening service, covering Capital Coast, Hutt Valley, and Wairarapa District. This can be dual-role position combining the responsibilities of a Breast Radiologist with those of a Clinical Director & Clinical Lead.

As our new Breast Radiologist (0.6 FTE), you will be facilitating the provision of appropriate high quality radiological services to the clinical specialities of Breast Screening Central and symptomatic breast services. This includes an advisory and diagnostic service in all matters relating to radiological breast examinations, including determination of appropriate procedures, performing invasive diagnostic procedures, equipment evaluation, quality control, interpretation, advice and support to staff within Breast Screening and Symptomatic Breast Services staff.

The Clinical Director & Clinical Lead (0.2 FTE) position provides leadership to ensure that radiology clinical services are delivered in accordance with agreed clinical standards of practice and within the agreed annual Breast Screen Central business plan. They will also contribute to the strategic direction of the Breast Screen Central and Community Services Division of Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley District. Although the Hutt Breast Centre is separate from our main radiology department and the position is part time, a split role allowing for other radiology responsibilities can be facilitated.

Moū - About you

  • Vocationally registered in Radiology with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
  • FRANZCR or equivalent qualification and be able to register for vocational registration with the MCNZ
  • Professionally active within the BSA programme
  • Be able to provide consistently high standards of medical care and leadership direction
  • Possess the relevant experience, skills and clinical and leadership practice
