West Adult Mental Health Community Team

Waitemata Specialist Mental Health and Addiction Service comprises an integrated range of Adult Community and Inpatient Services, and a comprehensive Child Adolescent Youth and Family Community Service. In addition, there are a range of specialist services such as Early Psychosis Intervention, Psychiatric Liaison and Maternal Mental Health. We also have dedicated Maori and Pacific Island Community Mental Health Services. Te Whatu Ora is also responsible for the Auckland Regional Forensic Psychiatry Services and the Regional Community Alcohol and Drugs Service.

Our Adult Mental Health Services are comprised of two Inpatient Units, three Community hubs and a Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Service. The Model of Care across the Adult Service is developing further specialty functions/streams and we are looking for SMO’s who have an interest in specialist rehabilitation, complex needs, therapeutic modalities, forensic adult community, difficult to treat depressions and primary care liaison. This is a unique opportunity to be involved in service development, service planning, and individual specialist interests as well as quality improvement initiatives. Teaching and supervision of junior doctors/students, involvement in clinical leadership and leading multidisciplinary team are core functions for our consultants.

We are looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist who is committed to providing a high standard of care and clinical leadership, has a strong consumer focus, supports the organisational values and enjoys the challenge of providing services to a diverse community. Full time or part time considered.

Based at the Waimarino Building in Henderson, we have strong peer review groups, excellent collegial support with a good mix of experienced and junior consultants.
