  • Christchurch - Hillmorton Hospital
  • 0.8 FTE (32 hours a week) x2, Monday to Thursday, or by arrangement, 6:30am - 3pm (hours can be negotiated at interview stage)
  • Permanent part-time

About the Role

Health New Zealand is looking for a cook to join our dedicated WellFood Department at Hillmorton Hospital to help feed our tūroro (patients) and whānau (family).

Our fast paced industrial kitchen provides 3 high quality main meals a day, with snacks in-between for tūroro (patients) and kaimahi (staff). We have a strong kapa (team) who are flexible and passionate about delivering a great service and we encourage a positive and trusting culture.

Our cookery kapa (team) are responsible for ensuring that the needs of our tūroro (patients) are met to the highest standard. Following standardised recipes and using creative flair to present food that we can be proud of. 

Salary starting from $25.50 per hour, Based on the Etū Multi-Employer Collective Agreement.

About You

We are looking for reliable, hardworking and motivated candidates who ares able to bring their passion for food to our Hillmorton facility.

You will also be responsible for maintaining and adhering to our Food Control Plan, Health New Zealand code of conduct and Health and Safety procedures.

Full training will be provided to all new staff joining our team. 

Skills and Experience

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A fast learner who can pick up new skills quickly
  • Exceptional skill and passion for large-scale cookery
  • A friendly, positive attitude with the ability to maintain speed without compromising standards.
  • NVQ Level 2 and Food hygiene qualification is essential
