Our Market Regulation team is seeking a Data Lead to manage a team of Senior Data Analysts.

This is a full-time permanent opportunity based in either our Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) or Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington) offices.

Mō te tūranga | About the role

This role involves providing both technical and strategic thought leadership on data to support the delivery of the Market Regulation branch and the Commission's strategic goals and objectives.

You will work closely with the Branch Services Manager to lead the delivery of data and analytics support, including people leadership responsibility for the branch's Senior Data Analysts.

The indicative salary range for this role is $145,986 - $171,748 plus 3% KiwiSaver employer contribution. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects their individual skills, experience, and internal relativities across the organisation.

  • Experience in leading technical teams.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills.
  • Experience in data engineering, including the use of cloud computing platforms, development tools, containers, dbt, and open programming languages (e.g., R and Python).
  • Experience with multiple database and data store technologies, including cloud data platforms such as Snowflake.
  • Experience with continuous integration/continuous delivery of data pipelines, including automated testing and git repositories for source code version control.
  • Effective communication and sound judgement skills.
  • Successfully led data and analytics projects.
  • Coached and mentored team members.
  • Supported the development and implementation of data strategies and architectures.
