Job Description

Your day-to-day role will include working on various heavy machinery from excavators, civil plant equipment and heavy trucks.

As a Diesel mechanic, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of diesel-powered machinery and vehicles. Duties include running diagnostic tests, test driving machinery and vehicles to gauge performance and maintaining detailed records of the machinery and vehicles you have serviced. And you need to be highly organised and communicate effectively, as you will be expected to maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles and machinery and interact with customers daily.

- Consulting, reading work orders and planning the execution of tasks
- Preparing work plans after fully scoping out the issues
- Running diagnostic tests on diesel engines and interpreting the results to offer suitable solutions
- Inspecting machinery and vehicle systems, including suspensions, steering and exhausts
- Repairing or replacing machinery & vehicle transmissions, brakes, engines, and other associated parts
- Conducting field visits in the case of an emergency or sudden breakdown
- Test driving repaired vehicles to gauge their performance
- Completing oil changes, wheel balancing, alignment, and brake checks
- Maintaining records of parts inventory and serviced vehicles
