The Intelligence Community Shared Services (ICSS) support the Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB) | Te Tira Tiaki and the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) | Te Pā Whakamarumaru in the achievement of individual and joint agency strategic and operational outcomes.

The role

This is an exciting senior leadership role that doesn't come up often in which you will lead teams responsible for strategy, governance, portfolio management, risk and business continuity planning. This role provides essential leadership across the GCSB and NZSIS, ensuring that the agencies have in place effective and well understood organisational strategies, risk frameworks, portfolio delivery discipline and governance mechanisms.

Who we're looking for

We are looking for a pragmatic leader with public sector experience, who thrives on seeing others succeed with their support. You are flexible, open, self-motivated and results-driven. You have the ability to do what is difficult or unpopular when required, to work effectively under pressure and focus on key issues.

Ideally you have:

  • Demonstrated experience leading teams a senior level and navigating senior leadership environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to build effective relationships at all levels internally, externally and internationally.

Interviews will be held in February 2025.

Before you apply

Working within our unique environment means we have to ensure you're eligible for employment.

You must:

  • Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 years

OR

Hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years

  • Be eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance
    • Ordinarily, this means you'll have a 15 year checkable background in countries NZSIS Vetting can make meaningful and reliable checks.
