About the Role
As a District Immunisation and Prevention Lead, this role is critical in enabling the delivery of the NPHS strategic agenda for Pae Ora (Healthy Futures). This is a full-time opportunity available to join the Southern Regional team
Reporting to the local Manager, Community and Whānau Wellbeing, and working closely with the Regional Prevention Development and Delivery Lead, the primary purpose of the role is to be the main contact point between local immunisation and screening stakeholders, enabling locally identified opportunities and navigating complex barriers to increase immunisation and screening rates.
You will also ensure that local immunisation and screening programme planning and delivery is aligned to regional and National priorities. This role is a critical enabler to support local prevention programmes, working across Health NZ and with Primary Care (including pharmacy), Hauora Māori and Pacific Services, Midwifery (Hospital and Community based), and NGOs.

The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.
About you
As a District Immunisation and Prevention Lead, you are someone with strong relationship management, especially in working with Hauora Māori Services, Pacific Services and Primary Care. You have strong problem solving and analytical skills combined with an ability to quickly assimilate new information, and to write and talk about complex issues clearly and concisely with a range of audiences. You have leadership experience, ideally including design and management of a programme, people and resources and leading through influence.
- Proven experience in project/programme leadership
- Experience in advisory roles, applying critical thinking and using sound judgement to develop options and provide advice, as well as strong project coordination skills
- Leadership experience, ideally including design and management of a programme, people and resources and leading through influence.
- Understanding of, and commitment to, the specific relationship under te Tiriti o Waitangi, and Te Whatu Ora's role in improving outcomes for iwi and Māori communities. Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action.
- Proven ability to foster strong collaboration between key partners and stakeholders, share data, and engage communities, ensuring effective and equitable service delivery.
- Knowledge and skills in Machinery of Government and dealing effectively with complex and politically sensitive situations or topics.
- New Zealand Driver's License
