About the Role

The Duty Nurse Manager is responsible for the day-to-day co-ordination of nursing resource utilization, patient bed management and first line emergency response across Taranaki Base Hospital and Hawera Hospital. Out of hours, the Duty Nurse Manager also provides first line facility management.

This is a dynamic senior leadership role that interacts and liaises with multiple teams across Te Whatu Ora Taranaki to ensure and optimize patient flow and resourcing of areas as well as responding to and leading multiple other demands.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Our Integrated Operations Centre team works together with the Duty Manager at the heart of decision making and leadership. Within our team we have a range of people and services as well as close working relationships with all hospital departments.

About you

Are you a positive and proactive Registered Nurse with the following attributes:

  • Significant (more than 5 years) experience with extensive broad based clinical experience in acute medical and surgical nursing
  • Previous leadership experience, preferably of a ward or inpatient unit 
  • Expert or senior nurse PDRP (or endorsed as working at this level)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to deal with conflict, listening and valuing the views of others
  • Ability to cope in crisis situations both clinical and non-clinical
  • knowledge of CCDM and Trendcare
  • Other skills, education and experience as per the job description and a keenness to learn and grow
