The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) is the heart of Aotearoa New Zealand's cyber defence. We fulfil the cyber security responsibilities of the Government Communications Security Bureau GCSB) | Te Tira Tiaki, to detect and disrupt high-impact cyber threats for nationally significant organisations.

The role
The Enterprise Information Security Group (EISG) within the NCSC is seeking a talented and motivated individual to become an EIS Developer to work within the NZIC Information Security Operations Centre (ISOC).
EISG is responsible for managing and reducing risk within the information security enterprise of the New Zealand Intelligence Community, protecting some of New Zealand's most critical information.
While the Developer sits in a small team, this team blends well together and works hard to build, maintain and enhance EISG infrastructure. In this role, you are expected to be an expert in system engineering, as well as specialising in SOC tools and infrastructure.
The appointment range for this position is $120,359 - $128,383.

Developer's cover three different specific disciplines, with some cross-over between them. However, this vacancy is specifically for the Developer discipline, as outlined below:
Incident
- Experience working as a cyber-incident responder of SOC analyst
- Experience with and understanding of operating systems Unix/Linux and Windows
- Experience with both cloud and on-prem security tools (security monitoring, log analysis & forensic tools)
Engineer
- Experience with both Linux and Windows administration
- Experience with cloud platforms e.g. Azure, AWS
- Experience with DevOps processes, tools e.g. Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, Git
Developer
- Experience with integrating different systems together, including by API
- Experience with DevOps processes & tools e.g. CI/CD, Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, Git, Pipelines
- Intermediate to senior level understanding of at least two common languages e.g. Python, Java, C, C++, C# etc
- Experience designing, developing and deploying web applications using modern technologies and frameworks (e.g. React, Angular) to deliver user-friendly solutions.
Who we're looking for
The right candidate will be passionate about tackling complex challenges and finding innovative solutions, with a proactive and enthusiastic approach to problem-solving. You will be comfortable and eager to learn new technologies as required, demonstrating flexibility and a continuous learning mind set.
You will ideally have a minimum 3 years' experience within one of the three disciplines (or across), to succeed in this position.

- Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 years
OR
Hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years
- Be eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance
- Ordinarily, this means you'll have a 15-year checkable background in countries NZSIS Vetting can make meaningful and reliable checks.
