Job Description

Job description

Our customer is an electronics design and consultancy company with worldwide footprint; they work on a diverse range of projects for international clients mainly, who are global brands and pioneers in their fields. They help them by creating game-changing (wireless) connected products and platforms that are deployed at scale to improve and enrich lives. Most of the team are based here in NZ – between the mighty Waikato and a small but growing footprint in Auckland.

Our customer is proudly Kiwi but have been global since day one, with mostly international customers in Europe and North America – and range from exciting start-ups to blue chips (including Qualcomm, Samsung, Trimble and Toyota).

We are looking for someone who has a passion for embedded Linux, kernel and device driver development – particularly for connected devices, vehicular systems and AI/ML computer vision applications!

Some of the benefits for the role:

Skills and experience

In order to be successful in this role, we’ll expect you to have proven experience as a leader or senior contributor on Embedded Linux projects. You may have:

You should be familiar with Yocto or Buildroot and the way that modern embedded Linux systems are structured, composed, updated and controlled.

You’ll be an expert C programmer with strong attention to detail, and a knack for producing tidy, efficient code. You’ll be great at documentation – both visual and written, and will have excellent written and verbal technical communication skills in English.

You’ll be able to talk to customers, and bridge between the world of technical detail, and that of commercial outcomes.

We can shape the other aspects of the role to suit the strengths and preferences of a great applicant, so please tell us why and how you’re going to contribute to our team!

Our recruiter Jose Delgado is a former electrical engineer with experience in research and development within different areas – he’s happy to provide support for relevant questions that may arise about the role and the company.

Feel free to call/text Jose at +64 21 0233 6406 or email  recruitment@tempsnz.com

At this stage, we are not in the position to consider applicants from outside NZ or Australia, unless they have the right visa or work permit.
