Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
As the lead regulator for land transport our purpose is to ensure that the system is safe, efficient, effective and operates in the public interest. Safety is a top priority for Waka Kotahi and Te Rōpū Waeture - the Regulatory Services groups aim is to improve safety and reduce the risk of harm by being a firm and fair real-world regulator.
The Enforcement Coordinator role is part of the Safety Camera Systems team, which is responsible for operating a network of safety cameras that encourages road users to abide by road rules (such as speed limits) and contribute towards a reduction in deaths and serious injuries on New Zealand roads.
Your focus will be to provide timely, effective, and efficient administrative and coordination support related to the safety camera enforcement activities. Your exceptional organisation skill, attention to detail, and ability to build strong relationships with a range of stakeholders will fit well with us.
Some of the responsibilities will include:
- Preparing evidence to support safety camera decision-making, including compiling legal documentation for submission to the District Courts.
- Monitor workflows and in-progress activities related to enforcement decision-making (including Court proceedings) to ensure actions are completed within agreed SLA's and statutory timeframes.
- Provide coordination and secretarial support to the Enforcement Advisory Group and its Chair
- Coordinate NZTA's responsibilities in prosecution activities, which include coordinating Court proceeding dates and the witnesses who will represent NZTA at proceedings.

Ko koe'tēnei | About you
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Previous experience working as a Coordinator or a Legal Secretary within a Legal and/or Regulatory environment
- Experience working within the NZ judicial system, especially within the District Courts
- Proven relationship management skills with the ability to build rapport and effectively manage a range of external and internal relationships
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail with an ability to assess complex information
- Proven ability to translate legal information into outcomes understood by the business
- Strong interpersonal skills, particularly in working with external solicitors and the NZ District court
Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience is desirable.
You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
