We have an exciting opportunity in Te Ihuwaka (the research centre within the Education Review Office) for someone with experience in working with surveys, particularly in social research and evaluation projects, to join us as an Evaluator.
Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role
- We are seeking an Evaluator who brings expertise and experience in working with quantitative data, particularly through the survey method, to work within our research and evaluation team to design, implement, analyse, and report on survey data across our projects.
- Within ERO, Te Ihuwaka | The Education Evaluation Centre works on a wide variety of topical and timely projects to review the performance of the education system, the effectiveness of programmes, and to identify and share best practice. Recent reports can be found here: www.evidence.ero.nz
- You will contribute to work that has real impact on education outcomes in New Zealand. Over the past 12 months, Te Ihuwaka has advised government on what needs to change across a wide range of issues. We also support teachers by providing evidence-based real-world examples of good practice.

We want to hear from you if you:
- bring strong experience in working with quantitative data, using the survey method – designing and analysing surveys, including sampling, weighting, and multivariate statistical techniques.
- thrive when working at pace and know how to support your team to deliver high quality work on time.
- are comfortable with ambiguity, driven to succeed, and committed to putting children at the heart of the matter. Experience working in the social sector would be useful but not required. You don't need an education background – we share strengths and expertise across the team.
