Finance Assistant - Permanent

About the role
Reporting to the Financial Accountant, you will predominately be completing core transactional processing, completing and assisting with regulatory and other financial reporting requirements, ensuring adequate process documentation is in place and assisting with process and system improvements.
The role of the Finance Assistant is primarily to:
- Process purchase and sales invoices accurately and in a timely manner including via relevant systems and interfaces.
- Ensure all data entry (including invoices) has been approved and appropriately coded.
- Generate vendor payments and allocate to invoices.
- Process receipts from customers and apply to invoices.
- Reconcile individual vendor/customer accounts and take appropriate action to clear reconciling differences.
Skills and experience
Essential:
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- Willingness to put in extra effort to meet deadlines.
- Experience in processing and dealing with customers / vendors.
- Have a demonstrable commitment to, and sensitivity towards equity issues and promoting the aspirations of Māori under the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.
- Experience in completing data entry and individual account reconciliations.
Qualifications
A tertiary qualification potentially leading towards a professional accountancy qualification is also desirable.
