About the Role
This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic Accountant to support and provide valued financial support and analysis to the Canterbury Health system. You will have the opportunity to put your professional skills to good use, assisting with the ongoing Finance functions. Ideally, we are looking for an experienced accountant who is looking to continue to grow their skills and experience within a corporate finance team.
In this role, you will be responsible for assisting with:
- Budget variance reviews and reporting
- Monthly reporting to District and Health NZ
- Balance sheet reconciliations and reviews
- Various information requests and project work
Our ideal candidate will be based in Christchurch, however we are open to applications from candidates residing in other centres in New Zealand.
About the Team
The team is responsible for accurate financial reporting for Canterbury, including contributions to the annual published accounts, internal reporting, and monthly reporting to Health New Zealand. The team is also accountable for Treasury and Cashflow Management, Budgeting and Forecasting Consolidation.
About you
We are looking for a confident self-starter, who will thrive in this fast-paced dynamic environment requiring exceptional communication and analytical skills. You will be a strategic thinker and be capable of conveying complex information, while building positive relationships with key stakeholders across all levels of the business. We are also looking for someone with experience in manipulating and analysing big data sets.

Your skills will include:
- Bachelor - s Degree in Accounting/Finance
- CA member or equivalent (CAANZ) (preferred)
- Oracle eBusiness Suite experience (not essential)
- Data extraction technique experience
- Analytical skills
- Good communication skills (written and verbal)
- Knowledge of accounting standards
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power BI)
