Summary:

Rob Law Max Recruitment is proud to partner with Wiri Oil Services Limited (WOSL) in the search for an experienced and dynamic General Manager. This role will lead Wiri Oil Services Limited (WOSL) in managing the Wiri Terminal and Marsden Point truck loading facility, along with the Wiri to Airport pipeline. As the General Manager, you will be responsible for fostering a culture of operational excellence, ensuring safety, performance, and continuous improvement. The role requires a strong leader who can drive a high-performing team, manage key stakeholder relationships, and oversee both operational and financial performance while focusing on shareholder interests.

About the Role:

Reporting to a board of directors as General Manager, you will oversee the overall operations of WOSL’s critical infrastructure, which are Major Hazard Facilities. Leading a high-performing team, you will drive operational excellence, ensuring the highest standards of safety, reliability and compliance, and leading the development and execution of strategic initiatives. You will manage key relationships with internal and external stakeholders, take responsibility for budget management, and continuously look for opportunities to improve efficiency. Key Responsibilities:

  • Health and Safety Leadership
    • Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of robust safety management systems to ensure safe and reliable operations across all terminals and pipeline activities.
    • Apply safety leadership to improve risk management processes and safety outcomes.
    • Promote a Zero Harm culture throughout the organization, ensuring that all staff and contractors are dedicated to maintaining the highest safety standards and fostering an environment where safety is prioritized in every aspect of operations.
  • Leadership & Team Development:
    • Lead and motivate a diverse and high-performing team across multiple functions.
    • Set clear goals and ensure alignment with the company’s vision, ensuring continuous development of team capabilities.
    • Promote a culture of operational excellence, safety, and integrity throughout the terminals.
    • Mentor and coach team members to foster leadership at all levels and ensure succession planning.
  • Operations Excellence:
    • Oversee terminal operations, ensuring zero harm, zero incidents, and continuous improvement in all safety, quality, and environmental standards.
    • Lead operational projects and ensure effective execution, including managing resource allocation and project performance.
    • Ensure all operations comply with legal, regulatory, and safety standards.
  • Stakeholder Management:
    • Maintain and develop strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including shareholders, government agencies, and emergency services.
    • Represent WOSL in external entities and ensure the company’s interests are communicated effectively to the public and relevant authorities.
  • Financial & Business Performance:
    • Manage and optimize the operational and capital budgets for the terminals, ensuring cost efficiency and performance improvements.
    • Lead the development of the annual business plan and align the terminal’s operations with the broader business strategy.
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance and support long-term business goals.

Skills and Experience:

  • Leadership & Management:
    • Proven experience in a senior management role, ideally within terminal operations, oil, gas, or related industries. Major Hazard Facility experience would be advantageous
    • Strong leadership and coaching skills, with a track record of developing and motivating high-performing teams.
    • Experience in managing cross-functional teams and driving cultural change.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Substantial experience in terminal operations, with an in-depth understanding of facility management, product handling, inventory and loss control.
    • Knowledge of relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation, and a strong focus on compliance.
    • Familiarity with terminal automation systems and operational procedures.
  • Operational Competencies:
    • Excellent understanding of quality management systems and continuous improvement methodologies.
    • Experience in budget management and cost optimization in terminal operations.
    • Strong background in emergency response planning and execution.
  • Communication & Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
    • Experience in managing relationships with government, regulatory bodies, and local communities.
