Health Care Assistant - AT&R 

  • 0.8 FTE / permanent
  • 64 hours per fortnight
  • Nelson location

About the Role

As a Health Care Assistant you will be part of our dedicated nursing environment with full support. Your role is to work within the team to assist nursing staff in care delivery, one-to-one patient watches and other tasks as directed.

Shifts will be rostered and rotating Sunday to Monday.

About the Team/Service

The Assessment treatment and rehabilitation AT&R unit provide a co-ordinated multidisciplinary response individualised to meet the holistic needs of people with disability and/or aged related disorders to optimise their functional ability and enable them to live as independently as possible. Your will be working closely with the Multidisciplinary team which includes Doctors, Nurses, Physiotherapist, Occupational therapists and Speech language therapist to enable patients achieve their rehabilitation goals.

 About you

  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
  • Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings
  • You will have a mature outlook, the ability to get on with a wide variety of people and excellent communication skills.
  • You will also have the ability to work in a flexible and methodical manner, demonstrate honesty, reliability and use appropriate initiative. 
  • To be the successful candidate you must be eligible to work in New Zealand or hold a valid NZ visa at the time of applying.
