About the Job
Our Client is currently seeking an experienced and qualified Health & Safety Advisor to join their team in a hands-on, site-based role. You will be responsible for maintaining and improving health, safety, and environmental systems, ensuring compliance with all relevant NZ legislation. This role includes the development and delivery of internal training, leading incident investigations, and proactively supporting a strong HSE culture across the business. The ideal candidate will bring experience within similar environments such as logistics, marine, or port operations.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and monitor HSE policies, procedures, and programs
Lead incident and near-miss investigations and support corrective actions
Conduct risk assessments, data analysis, and develop improvement plans
Manage emergency response planning and fire prevention activities
Ensure compliance with New Zealand HSE legislation and best practices
Lead training needs analysis and assist with onboarding and internal H&S training development
About You
To succeed in this role, you will need:
A relevant qualification or training-based certification in Health & Safety
New Zealand Certificate in Workplace Health and Safety Practice (Level 4) preferred
Unit Standard 4098 (assessor qualification)
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role
Strong knowledge of NZ H&S regulations, hazard identification, and HSE systems
Exceptional communication and organisational skills
Class 1 driver’s licence
