  • Salary band - $60,100 - $70,358 p.a pro-rata and Kiwisaver
  • Permanent, part-time opportunity - 64 hours per fortnight

Health care assistants are the lifeline of the health care industry, we are looking for a positive and proactive Health Care Assistant to support our busy and hardworking team within the Queen Mary Maternity Unit. This role is an ideal way for you to kick start your career in health and gain invaluable experience.

Mō te tūranga - About the role

We pride ourselves on having a strong focus on customer service, and its success is reliant on effective communication and teamwork. In this important role you will help with a range of direct and non-direct patient care tasks under the direction from the midwives and nurses on the ward, maintaining the department environment to ensure efficient and effective functioning including:

  • General department housekeeping
  • Cleaning of delivery rooms, Antenatal/Postnatal rooms and clinic rooms
  • Stock reconciliation
  • Supporting our nurses and other members of the healthcare team
  • Clerical duties as required
  • You will need to be able to commit to rotating rostered shifts.

Hours of work are Monday to Sunday inclusive, based on rostered shifts including nights and weekends - please note these rostered shifts are not fixed.

The successful applicant will:

  • be well organised, with a positive 'can do' attitude and be able to communicate clearly and openly
  • be able to take direction from a variety of staff
  • have experience working with people in a caring capacity, whether experience is gained from within a professional environment, or from caring for children or whānau
  • hold working rights in New Zealand
  • have previous health case experience is advantageous

Utu whānui - Salary range

This role is covered by the terms and conditions of the expired NZNO CEA and the salary will be in accordance with the HCA Pay Scale, between $60,100 and $70,358 p.a pro rata dependent on relevant experience.
