About the Role:
We are looking for dedicated Health Care Assistants to join our Wairoa Acute Services team on a casual basis. In this role, you will provide clinical, clerical, and technical support to nursing and other professional staff working within our multidisciplinary team. Your responsibilities will include patient care and related activities, working under the delegation of Enrolled and Registered Nurses in the Ward.

About the Team/Service/ Location:
Wairoa is a rurally located facility that includes a 2-bed emergency department, a 9-bed inpatient unit, and a 3-bed primary maternity unit, all integrated alongside our Family Health Centre. This is a unique opportunity to join a close-knit team in a community-focused rural setting, where you’ll make a tangible difference in people's lives.
About you:

- Demonstrate Respect and Professionalism: You are someone who values and respects patients, colleagues, and the community you serve. You understand the importance of confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in your work.
- Strong Communication Skills: You are an effective communicator, able to engage with patients, whānau, and multidisciplinary team members with empathy and clarity.
- Health Sector Experience: Previous experience in a healthcare or caregiving environment is essential. You are familiar with the needs of patients in a clinical setting and can provide support under the delegation of nursing professionals.
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
- Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
- Adaptability and Initiative: You can work flexibly and effectively in a fast-paced, rural healthcare setting. You are proactive in assisting with patient care and operational tasks.
- Physical Fitness: This role requires regular physical activity, and you are able to perform tasks that include moving and supporting patients, equipment, and supplies as needed.
