Pae Ora – Corrections Health Services lead the delivery of patient-focused primary health care services to those in our care and their whānau, across Aotearoa. It is a nurse-led service providing nursing services and general practice services. Health teams are multidisciplinary in nature with various primary health clinicians (including medical officers and dentists) contracted by the department.
A career in Pae Ora means providing health services in collaboration with external providers which include whānau, iwi, hapū, mana whenua and the health and disability system. You will be making a difference for individuals, their whānau and the community every day.

Ara Poutama Aotearoa is seeking a Health Centre Manager for Auckland Prison. The Health Centre Manager is a statutory role that is primarily responsible for ensuring the provision of health care and treatment for people in our care. The Health Centre Manager is a leader of health services in prison sites and has overall responsibility for the day-to-day operations, clinical governance activities, and quality and resource management in the health services. They oversee and manage health centre staff competence and compliance with policy, monitor for quality improvement and lead implementation of new policies and initiatives. The Health Centre Manager works closely with the regional and national health leaders.

As the ideal candidate, you will be a registered nurse with extensive leadership experience in the health field. You will bring a growth mindset and be able to build and maintain work environments that value diversity and innovation. You will be an advanced communicator who is resilient, organised, have an eye for quality, as you develop and maintain innovative health services in partnership with custodial services. You will be an effective leader who can motivate, delegate, and collaborate, enabling you to effectively establish and maintain internal partnerships and relationships across the wider health system. You will have an understanding of the rights of Māori as tangata whenua and the Treaty of Waitangi obligations for Corrections Health Services to improve health outcomes for Māori.
Utu ā-tau | Salary
The full salary range for this large prison site is $160,214 up to $170,514. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
