Oncology Medical Day Unit - Health New Zealand South Canterbury - Timaru Hospital
Permanent Part Time 0.8 FTE (Tuesday to Friday)

Right now, we - re looking for a
Health Care Assistant with lots of experience behind them to become an integral
part of the team here in Timaru. The Oncology and Medical Day Unit provides
services for patients that live in our community and need day only specialist
care including IV therapies such as blood and blood product administration,
immunotherapy treatments and chemotherapy. Intrinsically linked to OMU is the
South Canterbury Oncology team who run outpatient appointments alongside the
unit. We are a busy space so assisting
with functions to coordinate the flow of our patients is vital.
Day to day this role assists and
supports the team of Registered Nurses and Oncologists employed within the unit
as well the general Multi-Disciplinary-Team from the Hospital.
Part of this role is providing direct
patient care and support to patients - working under the doctors and nurses, direction
and delegation. Additionally, there are
other housekeeping tasks such as answering phones, ordering supplies,
re-stocking, scheduling patients next infusions all with the support of OMU
team members.

you have relevant experience, as well as the following attributes we would like
to hear from you:
- Ability and willingness to work within a team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Cultural sensitivity and can maintain confidentiality.
- Have a positive and courteous outlook
- Preferably has attained a career force qualification and or has completed an accredited carer education programme
- Be a proficient user of computer programmes including Microsoft
- Ability to work week-days (no unsocial hours required)
