Toitū Te Whenua is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Privacy Business Partner to be a key part of our boutique Privacy Team within Digital Delivery. This is a great opportunity to contribute to an evolving privacy practice.

The Business Partner – Privacy reports to the Leader – Knowledge Management (who is also the Privacy Officer) and works closely with the Principal Privacy Business Partner.

The Privacy Team is part of the larger Knowledge Management Team that sits within the Toitū Te Whenua Digital Delivery Group.  Privacy are responsible for responding to emerging privacy issues, promoting training and raising privacy awareness across the agency.  A key work stream is the provision of advice and recommendations to Toitū Te Whenua that promote and protect individual privacy and ensure we meet our obligations under the Privacy Act 2020.

The Privacy Business Partner role involves tasks that include:

  • Liaising with business groups on the crafting of Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and nurturing them through to sign off.
  • Providing privacy guidance and advice
  • Managing and investigating privacy breaches and near misses
  • Monitoring & reporting against compliance with privacy recommendations
  • Contributing to the design, development, and delivery of privacy training
  • Helping teams develop and enhance their business processes involving personal information
  • Assessing privacy maturity and identifying areas for improvement
  • Driving a programme of Privacy awareness and engagement
  • Maintaining and managing privacy related recordkeeping and metrics

You will have demonstrated skills & experience in the following:

  • Experience of working with the Privacy Act 2020 and the provision of Privacy services
  • Strong relationship management skills
  • Self-starting and brimming with ideas
  • The ability to use and demonstrate sound reasoning and judgment (critical thinking)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to successfully synthesise complex information
  • A talent for explaining and presenting complex concepts clearly and logically to non-specialist audiences
  • Ability to investigate matters with integrity and a clear decision-making methodology
  • Teamworking & organisational skills

 The annual full-time salary range for this role is $89,308 to $99,814 depending on skills and experience
