He angitūtanga | About the role

Due to an internal movement, we are looking for someone with a passion for HR to step into the role as HR Advisor. You will join our newly created People & Culture Hub and provide expert HR advice and support to managers, team leaders, and supervisors within the Department of Conservation (DOC).

 The position will be focussed on:

  • Providing timely and efficient advice on HR policies, procedures, and best practices. Assist in resolving employment disputes and offer support for performance assessments.
  • Contributing to the development and application of HR policies and procedures, while participating in change management and improvement initiatives.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including union representatives and public sector agencies.
  • Proactively managing HR tasks, escalating issues when necessary and ensuring compliance with DOC's standards.

 

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

We are looking for someone with a solid understanding of DOC systems and processes, and/or generalist HR skills.

If you have some of following, we are keen to hear from you:

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building abilities. Ability to engage with diverse groups and support cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to deliver on objectives with high standards of accuracy and professionalism.
  • Awareness of the Māori Crown relationship and the ability to incorporate te reo Māori and tikanga in daily interactions.

Desirable;

  • A tertiary qualification in HR or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Knowledge of HR best practices, employment legislation, and the ability to offer solutions to complex HR challenges.

The salary range for this position is $79,656 - $100,639 with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.
